Year 5 Whitwell Residential
Day 5Our Year 5 class have gone off to Whitwell Hall for their residential and with the weather being so glorious they have enjoyed a first day and evening at the venue. In the afternoon, they all built shelters and then had them tested out for their waterproof qualities by having buckets of water splashed over them. Evidently, some shelters were better than others. Following this, there was a camp fire and hot chocolate in the evening before bed ended a great first day ready for a good night's sleep ready for Day 2.
Day 2 saw the class eat a hearty breakfast before heading into the wood to use natural resources to create their own artistic designs. They all looked fabulous. Great work everyone!
Day 3 involved river dipping for different creatures culminating in a quick cooling down from the heat, before the children went off to participate in some kayaking together. Lots of great fun on the water today.
Day 4 meant an opportunity for the class to prepare their boats for the river race to take place on the following day. Hammers and nails and lots of wood and sails were on show as everyone personalised their vessel. The class will be home tomorrow also.
Day 5 had the class sailing their newly-built boats in the river and hoping they would not get snagged on some undergrowth or a shallow part. Then, it was time to head home to see families, tell stories and catch up on their sleep. Well done Year 5 and the Year 5 staff.
