A Rally of Religions
Diversity Week sees children exposed to a combination of religious and cultural difference!
This week has simply flown by and I have to say Friday could not have arrived soon enough as it has provided a clear diary day to enable everyone to catch their breath. The weather has also been a bit hit and miss with lots of downpours, but at least the newly planted flowers get a good watering.
Beginning on Monday, the pupils in the school have been immersed in diversity week whereby they are provided with greater exposure to cultural and religious difference. Monday saw Years 3 and 4 travel over to Norwich Central Mosque to experience the Islamic faith. On Tuesday, Sarvananda visited to instruct all classes on life as a Buddhist. Finally, on Wednesday, a member of the Jewish faith visited and gave a whole day of information and knowledge about Judaism. Unfortunately, we did try and get a local representative of the Hindu faith in from the Mandir, but this was unsuccessful. The children were very respectful and gained a lot from the different experiences, none more so than being able to see how Christianity fits into a diverse world where there are so many other different cultures and faiths.
Next week, is our Cross-Phase week where Infants and Junior pair up to undertake a subject focus. This year, we are doing Geo-Caching. On Wednesday, we will be hosting our open evening for our new Year 3 parents and children for September, beginning at 5:00pm. We will also have our final pair of Headteachers for the Day on Friday. Hickling's turn now.
Have a relaxing weekend everyone!
